Ongoing Communal Tensions during Ram Mandir Celebrations: Instances of Stone Pelting, Hate Songs, and Fires Emerge Across States.
Communal unrest flared up for the second consecutive day in Mumbai’s Mira Road following the inauguration of the Ram Janmbhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. People were reportedly compelled to chant religious slogans. In Telangana’s Narayanpet district, a procession commemorating the consecration of the Ram Temple allegedly set off fireworks in front of a mosque, escalating tensions.
The disturbances were not confined to Maharashtra and its neighboring states. In the Uttar Pradesh capital of Lucknow, a video emerged showing the playing of a derogatory song during a procession celebrating the Ram Temple event. Meanwhile, in Bihar, another procession marking the consecration threw firecrackers inside a Muslim graveyard. A preliminary police report named at least 12 individuals, as disclosed by Rani Kumari, a police officer in Keoti, to The Quint.
During the consecration of Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya and several other locations across states, including Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar, and Maharashtra, various regions experienced assaults on religious establishments and confrontations between different communities.
